Five Panel Gift Card Holder: Make 5 Gift Card Pockets from One 12×12 Sheet

Beginning Stamping· Card Making Ideas· Card Making Techniques

13 Aug

What if ONE sheet of 12″ x 12″ paper could turn into a gift that holds five gift cards or cash?

That’s exactly what we’re making with this Five Panel Gift Card & Cash Holder!

I love projects that look impressive when you give them but aren’t complicated to make. This one definitely falls into that category. When it’s closed, it looks like a beautiful handmade card tied with ribbon. But untie that ribbon and start opening it…and the surprise keeps going!

Inside are five separate pockets ready to hold gift cards or folded cash.

Think birthdays, graduations, weddings, Christmas, college students, teachers, grandchildren…the list goes on!

Start With One 12″ x 12″ Sheet

One of my favorite things about this project is that you have options.

You can create the base using:

  • 12″ x 12″ cardstock, OR
  • 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper

That makes this a wonderful project for using some of those beautiful 12″ x 12″ papers in your craft room.

And you KNOW we cardmakers have a few of those!

For this version, I used Wood Grain Wonders Designer Series Paper for my base and decorated it with the Glow of Harvest 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (#168598).

Look at That Glow of Harvest Paper!

This paper was practically begging to be used for a project like this.

The soft florals and beautiful fall colors make the holder feel special before you put a single dollar or gift card inside it.

But there’s another reason I wanted to show you this particular version.

With a qualifying Stampin’ Up! order of $75 or more, you can add the Glow of Harvest 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper to your order for just $5.

Glow of Harvest is the Stampin’ Up! Product of the Month for August!

Yes — $5!

And since this Five Panel Gift Card Holder is designed around 12″ x 12″ paper, I immediately started thinking about all the possibilities.

Use cardstock for the base and Glow of Harvest to decorate the panels like I did here, or use your favorite 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper to completely change the look.

Five Pockets = So Many Possibilities

Open the holder, and you’ll discover five pockets.

You could fill them all with gift cards, but don’t stop there!

You could also tuck in cash, little notes, encouraging messages, coupons, or a combination of everything.

For a college student, imagine five gift cards for places they actually use.

For a birthday, tuck a little surprise into each pocket.

And Christmas? Oh my goodness. I can already see this filled with gift cards and sitting under the tree.

Don’t Miss the Pull- Out Message

I added another little surprise to the front of my holder.

That “Happy Birthday” piece pulls out so I can write a personal message on it. The recipient gets the pretty presentation, the five gifts AND a handwritten message from me.

There is also room to add a Basic White panel inside if you’d like even more space to write.

Wait Until You See My Other Version!

I made another Five Panel Gift Card Holder with a completely different look, and I’ll be sharing that one too.

That’s one of the reasons I love this project so much. Once you understand how the fold works, changing the paper completely changes the gift’s personality.

I’ll be sharing that version during my YouTube Live class and here on the blog as well.
