Watercolor pencil cards have become my latest passion after exploring the new Stampin’ Up! Framed Scenes Bundle – a delightful collection that, as Stampin’ Up! describes, lets you “Make quaint framed masterpieces with the Framed Scenes Bundle! Use the frame dies to cut out vignettes for the peaceful stamp images. Use the woodgrain die to add a natural texture to your crafts.”
It had been ages since I’d worked with Stampin’ Up! Notecards, and the arrival of this gorgeous Framed Scenes Stamp set with its Coordinating Dies sparked an irresistible urge to create something special. The moment I unwrapped this bundle, my mind filled with possibilities!
I began by stamping all the images on 2″ x 2 3/4″ pieces of Basic White cardstock using StazOn Ink – the perfect choice when working with watercolor pencil cards since this ink won’t smear when you add water-based coloring. There’s nothing more frustrating than watching your careful lines bleed together, so this step is crucial!
For the finishing touch, I dressed the notecard fronts with a medley of Designer Series Papers and cut coordinating colored cardstock frames that make each design pop. I’m thrilled to invite you along on this creative journey as we transform simple notecards into miniature masterpieces that anyone would be delighted to receive!

The Ultimate Watercolor Pencil Cards Collection: Exploring the Framed Scenes Bundle
The Stampin’ Up! Framed Scenes Bundle offers everything you need to create stunning watercolor pencil cards with professional-quality results. This comprehensive package includes both the Framed Scenes Stamp Set with its serene nature images and the coordinating Framed Scenes Dies that perfectly frame each design.
What makes this bundle exceptional for watercolor pencil cards is how the dies create dimensional vignettes that showcase your colored stamped images. The peaceful scenes—from charming cottages to tranquil landscapes—come to life when enhanced with watercolor pencil techniques. The included woodgrain die adds natural texture and depth to your handcrafted cards, creating a rustic, artisanal feel that recipients will treasure.
The versatility of this set makes it a must-have addition to any card maker’s collection.

I first tested various colors and blending techniques on scrap paper for my watercolor pencil cards. I experimented with different greens for foliage, browns for the country roads, and blues for skies to ensure perfect coloring before applying pencils to my final stamped scenes.

My watercolor pencil cards came to life using a carefully curated palette of Stampin’ Up! colors: Basic Gray, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Cherry Cobbler, Gorgeous Grape, and Rich Razzleberry.
The meditative process of selecting and blending these colors reminded me why watercolor pencil techniques are so therapeutic—I’ve rediscovered the calming joy of coloring and plan to incorporate it into my crafting routine more frequently!
