Remove the Fear from Cardmaking—One Clue at a Time

Beginning Stamping· Card Making Ideas· Card Making Techniques

6 Jul

Have you ever looked at a beautiful handmade card and thought…

“I could never make that.”

Or maybe you’ve worried about using the “wrong” paper, choosing the “wrong” colors, or not following the directions exactly.

That’s exactly why I created Mystery Monday Stamping.

It isn’t just about making a card. It’s about building confidence, discovering your own creativity, and having fun along the way.

Every Mystery Monday starts with a simple set of clues. You don’t know what the finished project will look like until the very end. That may sound a little scary at first—but that’s where the magic happens.

One clue at a time.

One layer at a time.

One beautiful surprise at the end.

There Are Only a Few Rules…

No Stress.

Cardmaking should never feel like a test.

Relax, laugh, and enjoy the process. If something doesn’t go exactly as planned, chances are you’ll discover a new idea you love even more.

Go Rogue.

These are my clues.

This is your card.

If inspiration strikes halfway through, follow it! Change the colors. Flip the layout. Add another layer. Skip a step. There are no wrong answers when you’re creating.

Use What You Have.

You never need the exact products I’m using.

Use your favorite Designer Series Paper, stamps, embossing folders, dies, or embellishments. Every Mystery Monday looks different because every crafter brings their own personality to the project.

That’s what makes the reveal so much fun!

There Are No Stamping Police.

Seriously.

You will never hurt my feelings if you decide not to follow one of my clues.

Your card doesn’t have to look like mine.

In fact, I hope it doesn’t.

I love seeing how each of you makes the project your own.

Everyone Needs a Matt in Their Life.

If you’ve been Mystery Stamping with me for a while, you already know exactly what this means!

Years ago I accidentally typed “Matt the sentiment layer” instead of “Mat the sentiment layer.” n my clues. That video is still available if you want to see it HERE

Well…my Mystery Stamping friends have never let me forget it!

The joke has lived on ever since—even inspiring a custom floor mat in my craft room that says:

“Hello, my name is Matt.”

It’s one of the many little traditions that makes Mystery Monday feel like friends gathering around the craft table instead of simply watching another card tutorial.

This Week’s Mystery

This week’s Mystery card features the beautiful Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper and can be created in either a portrait or landscape orientation. The same clues lead to two completely different looks, proving that creativity doesn’t come from following directions perfectly—it comes from making the project your own.

I can’t wait to see where tonight’s clues take you!

So grab your supplies…

Invite a friend…

And remember…

No stress. Go rogue. Use what you have.

Each week we’ll solve the mystery together.

Mystery Monday was created to remove the fear from cardmaking—one clue at a time. So relax, go rogue, use what you have, and remember…there are no stamping police!
