Have you ever made a card and thought, “I wonder what this would look like with different paper?”

Well, that’s exactly what happened during this week’s Mystery Monday Stamping!

I made my first card using warm Pecan Pie colors, and then I did what I always encourage my Mystery Stampers to do.

I went rogue!

Using the exact same card layout, I created a completely different floral card. And y’all, this is why I love cardmaking! One simple design can give you so many possibilities.

A Simple Diamond Card Layout with Beautiful Texture

The secret to this handmade card design is three layered squares turned on their points to create diamond shapes.

Two diamonds feature Designer Series Paper, while the center diamond serves as the focal point of your greeting.

I started with an embossed background to add texture and then layered the diamonds down the center of the card.

It’s an easy cardmaking layout that looks much more complicated than it really is!

And the best part? You can use this design with just about any Designer Series Paper you already have in your craft room.

Card #1: Warm and Wonderful with Pecan Pie

For my first card, I chose Pecan Pie Cardstock and the beautiful Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The subtle foil details in the paper add a lovely shine without overwhelming the design.

I embossed a piece of Basic White Cardstock with the Lazy Daisy 3D Embossing Folder. The raised flowers create a gorgeous background for the three diamond shapes.

For my greeting, I used the Natural Artistry Stamp Set with Early Espresso ink.

The greeting says, “Wishing You Everything Wonderful,” and I think it works beautifully with this warm color combination.

I also decorated the inside of the card with stamped greetings and flowers. Don’t forget that the inside of your handmade cards deserves a little love, too!

• Pecan Pie Cardstock
• Basic White Cardstock
• Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper
• Natural Artistry Stamp Set
• Early Espresso Ink
• Lazy Daisy 3D Embossing Folder

Card #2: Going Rogue with a Colorful Floral Card!

After finishing my first card, I decided to use the same Mystery Monday layout with a completely different combination of papers.

And what a difference!

This time, I used Bubble Bath from the Velveteen Assortment Specialty Paper for my embossed background, paired with Peaceful Pine Cardstock and the colorful Velvet Meadow Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The Floral Spray Embossing Folder adds beautiful texture to the soft pink background.

Instead of stamping my greeting on Basic White Cardstock, I used another piece of the floral Designer Series Paper for the center diamond.

Then I added a greeting made with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies, Gold Foil, and my Hot Foiling Machine.

The gold greeting adds a little shine, and the floral paper really becomes the star of the card!

I even added a strip of the Designer Series Paper to the inside of the card.

Same Mystery Stamping clues. Same basic layout. Two completely different handmade cards!

Make This Easy Handmade Card with Your Own Supplies!

This is one of my favorite things about Mystery Monday Stamping. You don’t need to have the exact same supplies I use.

Grab your favorite cardstock, choose some pretty Designer Series Paper, and follow the clues.

You can stamp your greeting, use a die-cut sentiment, or even add a hot-foiled greeting like I did on my second card.

There is no stress in Mystery Stamping!

Use what you have, go rogue, and have fun!
