Craft stencils can make card making extra fun and easy. Today, I’ll demonstrate the magic of this technique using the Stampin’ Up! Layers of Beauty masks, which are also known as craft stencils in the crafting community. I’ll walk you through creating a lovely card in just minutes.

I know you love creating cards that look incredible but don’t take too long to make. That’s where the enchantment of craft stencils comes in—it makes the creation quick and painless. Imagine creating such a detailed card that will give your recipient a feeling of awe when they open the envelope and see the vibrant, layered design made just for them!

These notches take the guesswork out of positioning, ensuring crisp and precise designs every time. Pro Tip: Use Masking Paper from Stampin’ Up! to secure your cardstock and stencil/masks. The key to successful coloring is making sure everything is in proper placement as you add the layers of colors.

Craft-stencils-are-sometimes-called-decorative-masks-by-Stampin'-Up!
Start with Fresh Freesia Ink, then add Petunia Pop, and lastly Berry Burst on the Roses. Leaves are inked with Soft Sea Foam and Garden Green

Measurements of this card:

  • Basic Black – 4 14″ x 5 1/2″ for your base
  • Basic White – 6 1/2″ x 5 1/4″, scored at 4″

TIPS WHEN MASKING And working with craft stencils:

  • Utilize the alignment notches on the Layers of Beauty stencils for precise placement.
  • Secure your cardstock with Stampin’ Up! Masking Paper (highly recommended for stenciling).
  • Achieve even coloring with sponges or blending brushes.
  • Build color depth by starting light and gradually adding darker shades.
  • Finally, stamp the final details with Memento Black ink for a crisp finish.

Bonus Tip: A stamp positioner tool can ensure perfect alignment during stamping.
