Card Making Techniques Vol 9

Card Making Techniques· Gallery

2 Jun

Are y’all as addicted to techniques as I am? We are up to card making techniques vol 9 now. Since last October I’ve been sharing techniques each month. It’s been fun to play with techniques that I have not used in years!

There are so many card making techniques that it’s hard to remember them all so I wanted to make a reference book to help you remember them all.

Watch this month’s Free Technique Class on YouTube and then, if you would like the PDF for this month you can receive it for Free with a minimum $50 order (before tax & shipping) or you can purchase this month’s Tutorial (you will also find previous month’s PDFs there) in my Tutorial Store.

I can’t wait to share these 5 new techniques so let’s get started!

Technique 1: White Wash

The White Wash Technique is one that I just learned myself! And I found myself enjoying it so much! I really hope that you will try this one out! After trying it on colored cardstock I settled on Crumb Cake because it is a neutral color and allowed the White Wash to pop!

Technique 2: color lifting

Stampin’ Up! ink pads are water-based so when you use water on the inks you can actually lift the color off as I did with a water painter! The colors have a softer to white look when you are done! The color was applied with blending brushes which made it easy to give the background a softer color!

This is what my craft table looks like when I’m designing the technique series; it’s a hot mess! But a fun one!

Technique 3: Tri-color Embossing

Tri-color Embossing as always been a favorite of mine! And since Stampin’ Up! now sells the Metallics embossing powders this technique is one that you can use all of the time!

All you need for this card making technique is an embossing folder, Versamark Ink, and the Metallics embossing powders!

Technique 4: Mirror Image using punches or dies

If you have seen the ‘Happy Hedgehogs’ you know there are 2 Hedgehogs in the stamp set. However, they are two different sizes. Watch the video to learn how to use 1 stamp to stamp in both directions AKA Mirror Stamping! I used the Hedgehog Builder punch with this technique; you can use any punch or die you have.

Technique 5: Stencils

I used the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks (which are stencils but Stampin’ Up! doesn’t call them that!)

Do you purchase stencils and then forget about them? Put the stencils in your technique book so you see them!

You can also use dies as a ‘stencil’. I had a blast using the ‘Artistic Dies’ with blending brushes.

I love how one card looks watercolored & the other is totally different. Any time you can make 2 cards at one time it’s a win-win!
