Alcohol based markers are perfect for creating vibrant shading and leaving no marks or streaks when coloring. I’ve got tips to share.
I stamped my images using Memento Black ink since I’ll be using alcohol based markers—that’s an important first step! I thought the NEW ‘Delivering Cheer’ stamp set (New Mini Catalog on page 32) was the perfect stamp set to use and perfect for Christmas cards!
The images in this stamp set leave plenty of room for coloring with alcohol based markers A.K.A. Stampin’ Blends. What I love about these markers is that they blend colors so easily, you can quickly do shading and alcohol markers leave no streaks or lines! YAY!!
Stampin’ Blends are my favorite alcohol based markers and they make creating and coloring super simple. I’ve got a FREE DOWNLOAD for you that you can print off and use to track which markers you already have, which ones you need, etc. You can find this freebie further down in the post.
For some of the greeting cards I chose a greeting from the ‘In Your Words’ stamp set. This is a stamp set you can get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration as a Host Reward when your order is $300 or more (prior to shipping & taxes). Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators helped to gather a collection of the most sought-after sentiments for the creation of this stamp set. It’s brimming with crowd-pleasing greetings!

When I’m looking at a set of top-rated markers for card crafting, the first thing I look for is if they’re non-toxic. Most chemical-free markers would be labeled as xylene-free, acid-free, environmentally friendly, and suitable for children as young as three years old.
Sharon Armstrong says
The Stampin’ Blends are not suitable for young children. They are alcohol based. The water based markers that Stampin’ Up! sells are water based markers. They are acid free and non toxic but not food safe. You can see those here https://www.stampinup.com/search/markers?sort=relevance&ts=1655398217427
