VersaMark Technique 1: Emboss with any colored Inkpad
Don’t feel locked in by the limited color options in the embossing powder line! With VersaMark, you can emboss in any color your heart desires. Here’s how:
- Ink up your stamp with VersaMark ink first, then grab one of your Stampin’ Up! ink pads (water-based ink) in the color of your choice and ink your stamp.
- Now that you have your stamp prepped with VersaMark and your ink color you can stamp the design onto your project.
- Add clear embossing powder and set it with your heat tool.
- Clean your stamp well before using the VersaMark pad again; otherwise, the ink pad may become contaminated.
VersaMark Technique 2: Create a Photopaper image
Have you ever stamped an image only to find it looking a bit flat and dull? VersaMark is a solution! This technique gives a subtle texture of photo paper to create an almost photorealistic effect.
- Stamp your image (in my card example, I stamped the image on Designer Series Paper)
- Apply VersaMark to the entire surface
- Pour clear emboss powder over it and heat set!
Watch your image be transformed with a soft yet bright sheen!
VersaMark Technique 3: Emboss resist
Take your embossing game to the next level with this technique!
- Start by stamping your image (like these beautiful butterflies) with VersaMark Ink.
- Pour a generous amount of white embossing powder and heat set
- Now comes the fun part! Grab 2-3 ink colors and a blending brush and apply the ink randomly as I have done. The superpower of Versamark is that it repels ink so your embossed image (butterflies in my case) will remain white against the colorful backdrop.
- Tip: Use a soft, dry cloth or tissue to gently remove any excess ink from the embossed areas.
VersaMark Technique 4: Embossed Watermark
VersaMark’s tackiness makes it the perfect ink for creating embossed watermarks. It’s a great way to add a little luxury to your cards (envelopes too!)
- For optimal results apply Embossing Buddy (as shown in the video) to your cardstock. This will prevent embossing powder sticking anywhere except your stamped image!
- Stamp your image with VersaMark ink.
- Apply embossing powder in a color that compliments your project and heat set.
This embossed watermark adds a hint of dimension and personalization without overpowering the overall aesthetic.
I took my scissors and cut out a set of leaves to add to my card front. I used Shy Shamrock cardstock with clear embossing powder. You’ll see the effect on the card below.
I love the monochromatic look!
VersaMark Technique 5: Basic Watermark
The easiest use of VersaMark Ink is to create a watermark by simply stamping an image on colored cardstock and letting it dry on its own to create a simple tone-on-tone look.
Don’t underestimate the power of simplicity! This basic watermark technique is a fantastic way to add a touch of uniqueness to your cards with minimal effort.
- Stamp your image with VersaMark ink directly onto your colored cardstock.
- Once dry, it creates a subtle, tone-on-tone watermark that complements your chosen cardstock color beautifully.
This quick and easy technique is perfect for beginners or when you want to add a touch of understated elegance to your projects.
VersaMark Technique 6: Chalk Resist
- Stamp your image with VersaMark ink onto your cardstock
- Shave some chalk pastel as I show you in the video and use a Q-tip to color the image.
