Stampin’ Up! Desert Details: How To Make A Hot Greeting Card

Gallery

9 Feb

The Stampin’ Up! Desert Details suite collection inspired me to get crafty! I made three greeting cards that I’m excited to share with you.

The stamp set’s images are pretty and speak to me in many ways. I lived in Arizona for 6 years; that’s where I fell in love with the desert. As a matter of fact, I’m in Arizona today! My husband and I have missed our friends and the little town that we lived in so we’re back for a visit.

It was fitting and inspiring to me to create with the Stampin’ Up! Desert Details. One thing I love about the stamp set is that it’s what we call a Distinktive stamp set, which has a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single stamping step. The photo-realistic look is amazing!

One tip when using Distinctive stamps? Push the ink down into the pad and to the sides so that your ink pad isn’t too juicy—that way your Desert Details will stamp as intended.

What was your favorite part of this tutorial? Share your thoughts!

I want you to feel confident in your cardmaking from start to finish so as the video shows, I went step by step on how to make this card starting with how to cut each piece of cardstock. Did you like this method? I’d love for you to share your thoughts!

These different angles show how many layers this card has plus the 2 flaps on this fun fold card.

There’s plenty of room to write in this card with all these layers!

The Delicate Desert designer series paper in the suite collection (or you can purchase it on its’ own if you prefer) reminds me of desert sunrises and sunsets—they are spectacular. Lovely reminders of the sun and mountains.

Are you wondering what I used to make the shiny-looking plant in this desert card? The Dry Brush Metallic Specialty Paper. This mixed metallic paper combines metallic ink and foil with textural dry brush designs for a unique finish.  The package contains 2 different colors:

  1. One design includes Petal Pink foil, Soft Succulent foil, and Soft Succulent metallic ink
  2. The other design includes Petal Pink foil, rose gold foil, and Cajun Craze metallic ink
