How to Make a Split Card for 2 Greeting Cards in One Sitting

Gallery· Uncategorized

16 Jul

I am SO excited to show you how to make a split card for 2 greeting cards in one sitting! You’ll love these beautiful cards and the time saving method too!

My friend Angie sent me a cool new idea using flowers to make 2 cards at once.  I personally needed some thank you cards for my daughter’s baby shower; she’s having a boy and it’s her first baby and my 10th Grandchild!  So…this is the perfect time to make some beautiful handmade greeting cards and teach you this split card technique.

I decided to use the ‘Forever Fern’ stamp set by Stampin’ Up! to test out this split card technique.

Split Card Video Tutorial | 2 for 1 Card Making

I’ve got split card tricks that will delight you! I love how these turned out and I know my daughter will love having these thank you card ideas for her baby shower. Let’s get started with the video tutorial and all the tips & tricks I have to share with you today!

What do you think? Are you excited to try this split card? Will you use this same stamp set or do you have another one you’d like to try this with? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I started my card by stamping several leaves in all of the ink shades of green– Garden Green, Shaded Spruce, Just Jade, Soft Seafoam, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz!  Next cut them out with the ‘Forever Flourishing’ Dies by Stampin’ Up!

On the whisper white layer that measures  5″ x 7 1/2″ use a pencil to mark the center of the paper at 3 3/4″.  This is the line that I started stamping on to create 2 cards at one time.

Start stamping the leaves and stems then cut the cardstock using your trimmer on the 3 3/4″ mark.  You can erase the mark if you want but I have found it’s not necessary. You’re well on your way with this split card technique!

The ‘Thank You’ Sentiment is from the ‘So Sentimental’ stamp set by Stampin’ Up!.  Use a Shaded Spruce marker to color just the ‘Thank You’ portion of the stamp and do not color the “I can’t” and “enough”.

In this split card video tutorial I shared a tip about cleaning your stamps before you start making this beautiful handmade card so be sure and watch the full tutorial. Also, do not use alcohol inks directly on your stamps; only Stampin’ Write marker which are water based.
