Label me Grateful…It’s time for another Mystery Monday Stamping—and tonight we made a super fun and versatile Hinge Front Flap Card! I’m grateful for those who enjoy my Mystery Stamping, so the name of this stamp set fits perfectly!
This card design works beautifully in portrait or landscape format. My clues are written for the portrait version, but if you decide to go landscape, pay attention to the direction of your Designer Series Paper before cutting.
I made three different samples to show you just how flexible this layout can be:
Whether you keep it clean and simple or add lots of layers and embellishments, this hinge flap style gives you a unique interactive element without being complicated to make.

Mystery Stamping Clues – August 11, 2025
CLUE #1
These instructions are for a portrait card design (but you can make a landscape card too—just be aware of how you cut the DSP).
- Basic White Card Base: 8 ½” x 5 ½”, score at 4 ¼”
- 4” x 5 ¼”
- DSP: 2 ½” x 5 ¼”
- 1 ¾” x 5 ¼”
- 4” x 1 ¼”
- Scraps: Basic White, Colored Cardstock
- Stamps – Images and Greetings
- Ink
- Coloring tools, if needed
- Paper Trimmer with score blade (or other scoring tool)
- Adhesive
- Embellishments
- Optional: Die cuts, punches, ribbon
CLUE #2 – Cut the Hinge
Cut a 1 ½” strip from the right side of the card base.
Your card base now measures 7” x 5 ½”.
CLUE #3 – Score the Hinge
Score the Basic White strip at 1 ¼”.
Crease well with a bone folder.
CLUE #4 – Attach the Hinge
Add adhesive to the 1 ¼” scored section.
Attach it to the inside right edge of your card base.
CLUE #5 – Inside Layer
Add the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White layer to the inside of your card.
CLUE #6 – Left Flap
Attach the 2 ½” x 5 ¼” DSP to the outside left flap.
CLUE #7 – Inside Right Side
Attach the 1 ¾” x 5 ¼” DSP to the inside right side of the Basic White layer.
CLUE #8 – Hinge Decoration
Add the 4” x 1 ¼” DSP to the front of the hinge flap.
CLUE #9 – Greeting Layer
Stamp your greeting on a Basic White scrap.
Cut it to fit the front hinge flap.
Add layers, die cuts, or ribbon if desired.
CLUE #10 – Embellish
Add embellishments to your greeting layer.
CLUE #11 – Share Your Card
Snap a photo of your finished card.
