How to Make a Gorgeous Double Gate Fold Card

Fun Folds Cards· Gallery· Uncategorized

7 Jan

I’m excited to show you how to make a gorgeous double gate fold card today with a NEW stamp set and beautiful new paper too. This is a fun fold card that will cheer anyone up! I have been doing so many fun folds lately that I feel like it’s “my thing”! Are you loving these handmade fun folds too?

As I was making the video for today’s card I dated myself by calling the beginning of this card a hot dog fold!  I laughed at myself because when I started with Stampin’ Up! over 22 years ago that’s what we called it!  Really it should have been called a hot dog bun fold!

Double Gate Fold Card Video Tutorial:

Ready to delight and surprise a friend or loved one? This double gate fold card is a great way to do just that! It’s easy to make–follow along with me in the video step by step!

I have always called myself a Bold Bright Colors gal and the Painted Posies Designer Series Paper (DSP) was calling my name!  When I opened the package I was so happy and I had all kinds of card making ideas swirling in my head–this gate fold card being one of them!  While Stampin’ Up! has done a great job showing the patterns of DSP photos still don’t do it justice!

The new January – June Mini catalog launched January 3 and it is FULL of beautiful Designer Series Papers.  This double gate fold card works great with this paper. If you do not have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and would like a catalog you can request one HERE

As always I love sharing the measurements with y’all!  To help you with this double gate fold card I also made a video.  If you are like me it is helpful to see how something is done.  YouTube is AWESOME for that!

Double Gate Fold Card Measurements

  • Card Base – Whisper White – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″, rotate and score at 2 1/8″ again
  • Peaceful Posies DSP – Purple design – 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″, Posie pattern – 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • Whisper White layers – 2 1/2″ x 4″

On my video I remind you not to use Stampin’ Blends on the inside of this card since the Blends bleed thru.  On this card I stamped with StazOn then colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.

More Double Gate Fold Card Inspiration

I couldn’t stop making cards using the double gate fold!  It’s so fun and easy!  Now I have three cards with different sentiments ready to send when needed!

Don’t forget to decorate the inside!  When your cardstock is dark add a layer of Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/2″.

On the card below I used the New Heart Punch Pack from the Mini Catalog.  Loved how they layered so well!

Do you love fun folds like this gate fold card?  I would love for you to comment below with some other folds that you have seen.  Sometimes you find a fold and they don’t give you all of the measurements.  I love figuring them out and then teaching you how to make them!
