Heat Emboss Glitter Cardstock: How To Create A Sparkling Surprise

Card Making Ideas· Card Making Techniques· Christmas Cards· Holiday

14 Nov

It was a great day when I discovered a sparkly secret—you can heat emboss on glitter cardstock! Wow! I was blown away and was envisioning so many possibilities with this technique. You can use this when making cards, scrapbook pages, gift bags, bookmarks, gift card holders, and more. Stampin’ Up!’s special name for this paper is ‘glimmer paper’, but whether you call it glimmer paper or glitter cardstock, you’ll love the sparkly feature and the fact that the glitter does not rub off on your hands or land on all the nearby surfaces. It’s fantastic!

The cardstock pack I used had three colors——Berry Burst, Old Olive, and White and I was inspired to keep on experimenting and creating. You’ll want to check out all the glitter cardstock pack options currently available and stock up—they work for the Christmas holiday but also Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter, and more.

Heat Emboss Glitter Cardstock | Video Tutorial

Watch the video for inspiration on creating sparkly Christmas cards. Embossing on Glitter Paper is easy and beautiful! I love how the heat embossing adds beauty and the Old Olive Christmas tree looks flocked. I used the Wildflower Design Dies and Plaid 3D Embossing Folder to add texture and dimension.

Now that you’ve seen how it’s done, will you heat emboss glitter cardstock? This will also look great on Valentine’s Day hearts with white embossing powder, don’t you think?

Other Ways To Use & Emboss Glitter Cardstock

While cutting Old Olive Glitter Paper, I had leftover strips. I decided to get creative and fringe them, as well as cut some White Glitter strips.

I cut a tree shape from white cardstock and embossed it with the Plaid Embossing Folder. Then, I used scissors to make slits in the 1-inch strips and curled them slightly with a bone folder.

Finally, I attached the strips to the tree, starting at the top and alternating Green and White. I used clear tape to secure them on the backside.

I made this third card using the ‘Decorative Trees’ bundle, which was inspired by the one shared on the Stampin’ Up! website. The bundle includes a stamp set and coordinating craft dies. I chose not to add ornaments to my trees, but you certainly could!
