Embossing Powder and It’s Power to Make a Beautiful Greeting Card

Gallery

23 Mar

Let me show you embossing powder and its’ power to make a beautiful greeting card. This is also the perfect handmade card idea for Mother’s day too–just change the greeting.

I decided that the ‘Good Morning Magnolia’ stamp was perfect for this heat embossing project today. It’s also a great opportunity to use the new Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes.

Some of you have questioned if your embossing powders are old and that’s why you are not getting a good coverage.  I address that on today’s video!

Embossing powder and blending brushes work together to create such beautiful greeting cards. You’ll notice that for this card tutorial I only used the tips of the brushes to color in the magnolia and leaves.

The blending brushes were on back order (yes, that’s how popular they are!) but the good news is they will be back in stock in the next week or so.

Embossing Powder comes in lots of colors; I used gold embossing powder for these cards.

Embossing Powder + Its’ Power to Make Beautiful Greeting Cards

I love heat embossing and what’s better than combining that with the lovely gold embossing powder?! You can easily make this handmade card for any occasion and of course this embossing technique can be used with so many other stamp sets you have.

What is your favorite embossing powder? Which of these cards was your favorite? I’d love to know!

To make the best use of the gold foil paper and save some money I created a frame on one card use used the ‘leftover’ piece to mat my second card. I’ll save the other pieces for even more cards!  The gold foil of course goes so beautifully with the gold embossing powder.

This 'Good Morning Magnolia' card was made with gold embossing powder and a framed gold foil.

Card measurements

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock – (2) 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Gold Foil – (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Shimmery White Cardstock – (2) 3 3/4″ x 5″

This handmade thinking of you card features gold embossing powder and blended inks on the magnolia blooms and leaves.
