How To Add Beauty To Your Greeting Cards With Earthen Textures

Card Making Techniques· Die Cutting· Gallery· Thank You

29 Jun

Have you thought about adding Earthen Textures to your craft stash so you can make amazing cards? Watch how amazing this Stampin’ Up! craft bundle is for paper crafting!

I created 3 different card designs with the Earthen Textures bundle and I started out by using the dies in the bundle to cut out shapes from the coordinating ‘Earthen Elegance’ Designer Series Paper. Most of the dies are either vases or plants. I struggled a bit to get started but the inspiration kicked in quickly and I think you’ll appreciate the ideas I came up with.

The photos in this post follow my process for creating with the Earthen Textures bundle including the visual of how I put several stamps on a block and stamped them all at the same time. If you don’t have this bundle then I hope you’ll see how awesome it as and put it on your wish list. If you have the bundle then I hope that you make these card designs and to help you remember how to make them I’ve included a free download for you.

What about the Earthen Textures grabs your eye the most? The textured backgrounds, the stamped patterns, the die cut designer papers, the textured die-cuts? I can’t wait to read your thoughts!

I was inspired by the artist’s designs in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog. I used the same embossing folder for all of these Earthen Textures cards (Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder). I embossed both white cardstock and the designer series paper layers—I love when I can use the folders on DSP (see the Pretty Peacock layer below with the DSP embossed sample).

I stamped with 3 different colors: Pretty Peacock, Pebbled Path, and Copper Clay. It was so easy to do all the stamping first and then die-cut the images.

Earthen Textures: the fun begins!!!!

Once I had the pieces stamped and cut I started adding the vases and plants to my three cards until I had combinations for each card that I loved. I had so much fun with these Earthen Textures and it turns out that I had extra pieces—make sure you watch the  YouTube Live to see how they were put to use!

I used the Paper Trimmer to cut the greetings and then added them to the card fronts. Whether you mat the greeting or not the cards look great.
