Crayon Resist Card Technique: How To Explore The Magic & Fun

Card Making Techniques· Cards for Friends· Gallery

23 Mar

Look no further for a fun card making session than the crayon resist card technique. This simple and versatile technique has been around for years and never goes out of style! It involves using a white crayon to create a resist effect on paper, which is then colored over with ink or paint to reveal a stunning design.

A shout-out to Crayola for having the best white crayon on the market for this technique.

I’ll show you how to use the crayon resist technique to make gorgeous cards using Stampin’ Up! Seashells 3d embossing folder. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner, you’ll love the magic and fun of this technique.

Step 1: Use the white crayon on the white cardstock after you emboss the paper.

Step 2: Leave the cardstock on the folder then use the crayon to color over the embossed white cardstock.

Step 3: Use blending brushes to add inks (I used Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, and Pale Papaya). You’ll see the wax from the crayon resists the ink!

What embossing folder will you use to try this crayon resist card technique?

Crayon Resist Vs. Only Blending Brushes

The card on the left has the crayon resist card technique vs. the card on the right was made with blending colors on top of the embossed image without the white crayon.

I love teaching card making techniques and my Technique Series has been very popular. Now you have one more technique to add to your collection!

Check out the other card making techniques I’ve taught in the past.

Crayon Resist Cards With Other Embossing Folders

I used the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder to make these cards. This card is different from the first I made; instead of leaving the cardstock on the embossing folder I used blending brushes on the card on the right and ink refills on the card on the left.
