Card Making Techniques Vol 8

Card Making Techniques· Gallery

5 May

Card Making Techniques Vol 8 brings 5 new techniques this month. This gets us to 45 papercraft techniques in this series!

I have been asked how many technique classes I will have; I honestly have enough for a whole year! Imagine the reference book we will all have of techniques! Having the techniques in a book handy on my craft table makes it so much easier to be inspired when I am ready to stamp!

If you are new to my blog then let me introduce the Card Making Techniques series–the 1st Thursday of each month you can catch a new episode on my YouTube Channel. I’m sharing 5 new techniques each month that you can use to create a reference book.

The first card making technique in Vol 8 is…..

Embedded Embossing

Stamping images on a piece of white cardstock is fine but embossing the cardstock after you stamp on it really adds to the card! Give this embedded embossing a try!

Card Making Techniques Vol 8 includes:

  • Embedded Embossing
  • Faux Wood Burning
  • Inking Embossing Folders
  • Kissing Technique
  • Partial Die Cutting

Technique 2: Faux Wood Burning

I used Celebrate Sunflowers stamp. Any masculine image like a boat or lighthouse would make a great masculine card.

As you heard in the video, my husband and I used to make wood-burning gifts for our family so this Faux Wood Burning Technique really brought back memories!

Technique 3: Inking Embossing Folders

New Fern 3D Embossing folder inked in the NEW Parakeet Party ink pad.

A popular technique is to ink your embossing folders for added texture. As I mentioned in the video, try inking both sides of your embossing folder to determine which look you prefer!

Technique 4: Kissing Technique

Use 2 stamps, 2 different inks, and “kiss” the stamps together to get a totally different look! While I prefer using at least one red rubber stamp for best results you can use 2 photopolymer stamps, just be careful when “kissing” that they don’t slip.

Technique 5: Partial Die Cutting

If you have used any die cuts you know the concept of stamping an image and using the die to cut it out completely. For partial die-cutting, you are simply cutting only a portion of the image!

It’s always fun to have more than one way to use your stamps and dies!
