Card Making Techniques Vol 18 | Learn 5 More Techniques

Card Making Techniques

5 Oct

I’m thrilled to present Card Making Techniques Vol 18, packed with fantastic DIY ideas to add a WOW factor to your handmade cards! The popularity of this series proves that creativity knows no bounds, regardless of your stamping experience.

I love teaching techniques each month; it’s one of my passions. I love watching you smile as you create your own beautiful and unique handmade cards and I know you feel proud of what you craft.

Card making techniques Vol 18 has 5 techniques. Check out any previous volumes that you missed too!

CARD MAKING TECHNIQUES VOL 18 INCLUDES:

  • Coloring Glimmer/Dazzle Paper
  • Ink refills to color Tissue Paper
  • Bokeh
  • Blending Brushes
  • Embossing and highlighting

TECHNIQUE #1 Coloring Glimmer/Dazzle Paper

Recently I taught you how to make this card; today I am teaching you how to color the Glimmer Paper.

You will need a Stampin’ Spritzer, an ink refill (I used Melon Mambo), and water. Fill 3/4 of the bottle with water, add 5-6 drops of ink refill, and replace the top. Shake to mix and spritz the Glimmer Paper. Make sure you protect your work surface!

Now that you’ve viewed the video, I’d love to hear which idea in Card Making Techniques Vol 18 you’re most excited to try.

TECHNIQUE #2 Ink refills to color Tissue Paper

Tissue Paper that is used for gift bags can be colored with ink refills. I used Pecan Pie, Old Olive, and Crushed Curry. This fall card is easy to make using this technique.

TECHNIQUE #3 Bokeh

Bokeh (pronounced BOH-kə or BOH-kay) is a Japanese word that means “blur” or “haze.” By using circles and sponge daubers I created this effect with white ink. I loved using Vellum Cardstock on this card as it doesn’t hide all of the Bokeh background! You will need Blending Brushes for this card which takes us to our 4th Technique…

TECHNIQUE #4 Blending Brushes

Blending Brushes allow you to create beautiful backgrounds like this. I started with a layer of Pool Party ink and then added Azure Afternoon on top of it while leaving the top portion with only Pool Party showing. That’s how the ocean really is – lighter at the top and darker beneath the surface!

TECHNIQUE #5 Embossing and highlighting

Embossing is a technique we often take for granted because we use it all the time. I am adding this to our reference book though because it is a technique. Let’s take it up a notch and show you how to add shadowing to step up the embossing.
