Card Making Techniques Vol 13

Card Making Techniques

2 Feb

Card Making Techniques Vol 13 brings us to 70 craft techniques for your cardmaking! I think I will be sharing a few new ones with you today and reminding you of some old favorites!

The Card Making Technique Series was designed to share techniques plus show you ways to store the ideas in one place — a reference guide. You can simply flip through the book and find the perfect technique to use!

How do you get this month’s Card Making Techniques Vol 13 for Free? With a $50 order on my Stampin’ Up! website or if you prefer, you can purchase the tutorials in the Tutorial Shop.

CARD MAKING TECHNIQUES VOL 13 INCLUDES:

  • Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Technique
  • Embossing Paste Painting Technique
  • Watercolor Stamping Technique
  • Bargello Technique
  • Tissue Paper Background Technique

The video tutorial demonstrates each of these techniques as I make a card for you. Seeing the process from start to finish is so helpful!

TECHNIQUE #1 Stampin’ Blends alcohol

Stampin’ Blends are alcohol-based markers. When you color with them you can use rubbing alcohol to activate them. In this card, it looks like bubbles underwater.

Which 1 of these in Card Making Techniques Vol 13 are you most excited to try? I love reading about your plans and what you want to try!

TECHNIQUE #2 Embossing Paste Painting Technique

I used Shimmery Embossing Paste for this card but I made cards with regular Embossing Paste too.

Sara Douglas, the CEO of Stampin’ Up!, shared this idea with us and I could not wait to try it! It’s so artsy! I didn’t want to stop making these!

Since we used Embossing Paste last month in Volume 12 I thought that giving you another idea would be fun.

TECHNIQUE #3 Watercolor Stamping Technique

This card features Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis, and Starry Sky on Shimmery White Cardstock.

This card making technique is perfect for beginning stampers or experienced ones; it’s one that everyone loves. I was inspired by a card shared by Tami, an Artisan Stamper for Stampin’ Up!

I tried the same technique on Watercolor Paper; it wasn’t as successful in spritzing the water and getting the effect that Tami’s card had. Once my paper dried I took the second image and stamped it over all of the flowers!

TECHNIQUE #4 Bargello Technique

Bargello is a type of Needlepoint consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. However, on this card, we did not do any sewing (cuz I don’t do that!) instead, we used Designer Series Paper to create a pattern. You’ll see on the video, I sorta cheated but got the same effect! Got scraps of DSP? This is a technique for you.

technique #5 Tissue Paper Background Technique

Got a small image for your card front that needs a little “something”? Try this Tissue Paper Background technique. Simply ball up a piece of tissue paper and ink it up in the ink pad. Next, tap it all over the background and you have a little touch of color to liven up your card!
