Want to learn a stamping technique that will rock your world? This marker shading technique is super easy and fun. It’s a stamping technique you won’t want to miss!

This stamping technique is called ‘thumping’ and it was perfect for my cards today.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the Palm Trees from the Timeless Tropical stamp set. Then, I  “Thumped” with darker colors (Garden Green and Early Espresso).  When using this stamping technique the key is to let the marker be held loosely in your hand and just let the brush tip fall wherever!  No right or wrong way.

Be sure and watch the video so you don’t miss the other samples with this technique that I share. I found this works best on our DistInktive stamps but try it out on your others too and see what you think!

This stamping technique gives such a cool effect!

Stamping Technique ~ Thumping: The Close-Up Shot

Here is a close up of my thumping.  Can you see the areas where my markers hit the stamp?  Really gives a cool look!

Since Pineapples start to have brown tips as they ripen I used Early Espresso to help that look.  I used Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers to color the Pineapple first (not sure why I didn’t use Pineapple Punch!  LOL). Then Thumped with the Early Espresso Marker.  The green portion of the Pineapple was colored first with Pear Pizzazz then Thumped with Garden Green Stampin’ Write Markers.

Thumping on the Palm Trees gave it a beautiful dimension and almost looked like I made my own Designer Series Pattern! The depth of different colors is striking yet subtle and really looks profession!
